Anyone else just super glad to be into January already? While I enjoy the holidays and always feel a little melancholy when my house is back to normal after the decor is down, I also feel the angst of the pressure of “New Year, New You!”
Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for self-development and committing to a healthier lifestyle, that’s my actual job. But when it’s combined with unsustainable hype, I get tired. Like sleepy. It’s too much and I shut down.
I’ve made enough resolutions to know that I feel like a complete failure come February. So I ride the wave of all of the marketing designed to make you “your best version yet!” and then quietly retreat and pray, “Thy will be done,” to the Divine/God/Spirit. Then I wait. Mostly impatiently. But I do it.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed and pressured to make grandiose resolutions, take heart. And a deep breath. Now, another one.
